Description:

This halberd has a forged iron head that is 35 inches long with the spike taking up 30 1/2 inches. There are circular decorative piercings on the head. There are 16 inch and 19 inch long langets to protect the 64 inch octagonal oak shaft. Underneath the iron straps is a red velvet covering that extends 32 inches from the top of the shaft and is covered with iron studs. There is a red tassel between the shaft and head. Provenance: The William Ashby Collection

Rating Definition:

Good, there is a dark aged patina on the iron components with minor pitting overall. The bottom tip of the axe has a small piece broken off. The velvet has a number of minor tears and the shaft has been shortened. The shaft on this example may be original!
