This is an excellent example of a very rare late Series II "P" Code commercial contract Luger. It is estimated that only 100 total were ever manufactured in their own serial number range of P1 to P100, making this a very early example. These pistols exhibit the Krieghoff blue finish with the straw colored small parts and fitted with the scarce early commercial Krieghoff/Ritzmann style fine checkered brown plastic grips with the bordering on the front and rear. These models are easily identified since they are absent of any Luftwaffe proofmarks. They use the very rare late production C-5 type toggle markings and they have the "Eagle N" commercial proof on several areas of the pistol. In addition this specific example has the small circled "A" proof on the right side of the frame rail denoting that it was a rejected military contract Luger that was sold as a commercial model. The small Eagle N commercial proof is marked on the left side of the barrel extension, the underside of the barrel itself and the front left area of the frame rail. It is correctly numbered in a commercial contract fashion with the full serial number (P29) on the front of the frame and "29" on the right side of the breechblock and left side of the barrel extension. The blue magazine body is also correctly marked with the wartime code of "122" denoting manufacture by Haenel/Schmeisser company along with the eagle "37" Waffenamt at the top of bottom and marked with the matching serial number "29" on the pinned aluminum base.

Excellent. The pistol retains 95% of the slightly faded original blue finish with some edge and high spot wear overall. There is some cold blue present on the center section of the barrel. The grips are excellent showing only light handling marks and sharp checkering . The magazine is also excellent showing some minor normal usage wear. The markings are crisp and clear. Mechanically excellent. An excellent rare and seldom found example of a late production Series II "P" code commercial contract Luger pistol with all matching serial numbers.
