Description:

This is an excellent original example of a desirable G41 rifle that was manufactured by the Berlin-Lubecker Company. These rifles were manufactured late 1942, early 1943 before all production switched to the G43 series of rifles. These early G41 series of rifles used the bang gas-trap which trapped exhaust gas from the fired round in a barrel mounted muzzle cone to cycle the action. This entire series of rifles were used only for a limited time before all production switched to the G/K43 series of rifles. This later series of G/K43 rifles did away with the earlier bang gas trap style system and instead used a barrel mounted gas system, that was basically copied from the Russian Tokarev rifles, which proved to be more reliable and easier to produce. This rifle has the very early type 1 receiver, bolt, bolt carrier, gas cone and early action cover and associated internal parts that were mostly all machined and finely blue finished. The receiver side wall is marked "G41 duv 43/Eagle/214" followed by the serial number "2349g". The trigger guard and box magazine are the correct stamped wartime versions with the stamped barrel bands and buttplate. The stock is the correct wartime laminated model that is marked on the right side with a double Eagle 214 Waffenamt proof and a single Eagle 214 Waffenamt proof in the pistol grip area. The rifle is equipped with the later production dark red/brown phenolic resin (plastic) handguard as manufactured in 1941/42 time frame. It is complete with an unmarked WWII leather sling, a front sight cover and cleaning rod.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 95% plus of the original blue finish with wear on the edges and high spots and some thinning and blue loss on the top cover and front barrel band. There is some light but extensive chatter marks present on right side of magazine box. The stock and handguard are both very fine with a nice original finish. Numerous light handling marks and pressure dents on the side and forend of the stock. The stock proofs are clear and the handguard is excellent with a nice even color overall showing only minor handling marks. The visible numbers are all matching and the right side of the box magazine has a small patch of minor dents. The sling is very good. An exceptional example of a much sought after WWII German G41 semi-automatic rifle.
