Description:

This is a beautiful example of a very scarce pre-WWII Commercial contract Mauser Banner Luger Pistol chambered in 9 mm Luger. This specific pistol is listed by serial number "4295v" on page 411 of the book, "The World Of Lugers" Vol I, by Constanzo, as an unconfirmed very limited pre-WWII Bulgarian Contract P.08 Luger pistol. As we all know Bulgarian contract Lugers are extremely rare in any condition as very few were ever actually manufactured. They were captured by the Germans, reused/reissued again during WWII. Then were recaptured by the Russians, rebuilt and reissued to the Soviet Armed forces after WWII. This excellent Luger is dated 1937 on the chamber area with the standard "Mauser Banner" trademark on the first toggle. This pistol falls into the range of those generally considered as a standard commercial Lugers that were issued or sold to several different countries just prior to that actual outbreak of WWII. The left side of the barrel extension, and the left side of the breechblock are all stamped with a single "crown/U" commercial proof acceptance mark with no other proofs on the pistol. The pistol is numbered in the military fashion with the desirable serial number of "4295V" stamped on the front of the frame with "4295" stamped on the underside of the barrel and the left side of the barrel extension with the last two digits "95" stamped on various small parts. It is fitted with a single unmarked blue sheet metal magazine with and aluminum base that is marked with only "GERMANY" and no other proofs. This excellent pistol is complete with an excellent 1940 dated black leather Luger holster. The back of the holster is stamped "DLWP/1940/WaA418/P.08".

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 97% plus of the original blue finish overall with wear on the edges and high spots. The various small parts still retain 85% of their original straw colors with thinning and wear on the edges. The grips are excellent with nice original checkering on both sides showing only minor handling marks in couple of areas. The holster is very good with a nice all original black color with edge wear only with some minor handling marks with nice tight stitching. The markings are clear and distinct. This pistol has all matching numbers except the magazine as noted with the right grip being marked with only a "Z S". An excellent example of a scarce all original Mauser Banner Contract Luger pistol.
