Manufactured in 1947 during the Transition period (late 1945-51). This period saw an increase in yearly production to satisfy the growing demand for the Model 70 and featured a new safety designed to accommodate the installation of telescopic sights without interference. Only 362 were manufactured in 300 Savage caliber which was available as a special order caliber circa 1944 until sometime in the 1950s. The rifle has standard Winchester markings including the factory proof on the left side of the barrel and receiver at the breech. Hooded ramp front sight, adjustable elevation rear sight and receiver tapped for sight/scope mounting. Transition safety, polished bolt numbered to the gun and cloverleaf receiver tang. Mounted on a checkered select walnut straight comb pistol grip stock with sling swivels and checkered steel buttplate. Complete with factory box numbered to gun and papers. Where else would you find another .300 Savage with select wood in the factory box?

As new in box, retaining 99% plus original blue finish with a couple mild dings on the receiver and a few minor scratches at the muzzle, otherwise light traces of collector type handling marks. There is an extremely small sliver of wood missing near the upper tang, otherwise the stock is excellent with only the slightest handling marks. The box is excellent with some mild fraying on the edges.
