Very Fine Smith & Wesson 38 Single Action 2nd Model Revolver with 5 Inch Barrel

Manufactured from 1877 to 1891. The top of the barrel rib is marked with the two line address/patent dates with the matching serial number on the butt, (partially covered by the lanyard stud), barrel and cylinder. Pinned front sight and notch rear sight on the latch, and lanyard on the butt. Fitted with checkered hard rubber grips with S&W in a circle at the top, with the right panel numbered "3445".

ConditionVery fine. The revolver retains 95% original nickel finish with some minor flaking on the muzzle, cylinder and side plate, and overall a few minor dings and scratches. The barrel latch is a period replacement. The grips are also very fine with a couple minor dings and handling marks, and crisp checkering. The markings are clear. The action is excellent.
