Colt Single Action Army Revolver

Manufactured in 1924. The top of the barrel is marked with the one line address, the left side is marked "COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY .45." and the left side of the frame is marked with the two line, three patent dates followed by the Rampant Colt. The matching last two digits "46" of the serial number are marked on the rear face of the cylinder. The matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the frame, on the right side of the front and back straps under the grip. The matching assembly number "1524" is marked on the right rear of the frame and on the loading gate. The assemblers number "3" is marked on the left upper front of the trigger guard above the Colt triangle "VP" proofmark. Standard blade front and frame notch rear sights, all nickel finish and fitted with replacement post-war black checkered hard rubber Rampant Colt/American eagle relief grips (numbered 86325). Comes with a wooden case with fitted red velvet and satin lining.

ConditionVery fine overall. Metal with 98% plus nickel finish remaining, showing some flaking on cylinder face, scattered minor scratches and a cylinder drag line. The hammer is a re-nickeled replacement. The grips are excellent with a light residue in some of the sharp checkering. The markings are crisp and clear. The grips are near mint. The action is excellent. The case is good with numerous scratches on the exterior and the lining is very good with some minor contact wear. A correct set of grips and hammer will greatly improve this pre-war SAA!
