Description:

Manufactured in 1879, this Second Model production features the dust cover guide rail secured on the top of the receiver with two screws and dust cover has the serrated "thumbprint" style finger grip on the rear. Blade front and elevation adjustable rear sights with a barrel stamped with the two line address/patent dates marking on the top flat. The upper tang is stamped "MODEL 1873." Full length magazine, smooth forearm and straight grip stock with crescent buttplate with compartment (cleaning rod not included).

Rating Definition:

Very good. The rifle retains 20% of original blue finish which is mostly contained in the protected areas with the balance a mottled brown-gray patina. The wood is also very good with some chipping on the forearm near the receiver and some minor handling marks overall. Mechanically fine.
