Description:

1) Late 19th Century halberd with a 19 1/2 inch head. The head has decorative piercings in the blade. The round wooden shaft is 70 inches long. 2) The head is composed of a well forged katar style blade from the 18th/19th Century that measures 8 1/2 inches long that is riveted to a 6 inch long hexagonal socket. The round wooden shaft is 69 3/4 inches long. Provenance: The William Ashby Collection

Rating Definition:

1) Very good, the metal has a dark aged patina with some scattered minor pitting. The shaft is also very good with scattered minor scratches and dings. 2) Good, the blade and socket have minor pitting overall, some patches of moderate pitting, a brown aged patina, and traces of black paint. The replacement shaft is very good with scattered minor scratches and dings overall.
