Description:

Measuring 36 1/4 inches overall, with a 26 inch blade showing a wavy temper line, carved line horimono and a single symbol on the right side and a deeply cut 10 inch fire breathing dragon on the left. An extensive signature (possibly "kaneshige") is present on both sides of the tang, with an additional signature on the fuchi. The tsuba is of the soten style, shakudo construction, featuring a cut-through scene of a man on horseback crossing a bridge and looking on as a dagger-weilding soldier in the river faces off against a water dragon. Soft metal hilt fittings, with golden cranes on the fuchi and kashira, and goto pattern menuki. With a black lacquer finished scabbard, with a black suspension cord and silver and gold lacquered leaf decoration.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The blade shows some minor handlign marks, with a good state of polish and a solid temper line. Mekugi is absent. Some brown residue is visible on the grip, with attractive color and detail to the fittings. Saya is very good, with a few scuffs and areas of white residue. All together, a most attractive katana.
