Description:

Introduced in 1896, many Lee-Enfield Cavalry Carbines were later converted to other models, rendering original examples scarce. Blade front and folding ladder rear sights, with "crown/V.R./ENFIELD/1898/L.E.C./I." on the left side of the wrist socket, and a number of "crown/VR" ciphers and martial proofs on the barrel and receiver. The receiver is fitted with a dust cover, magazine cutoff, and a short magazine with chain link. Smooth straight grip stock, with a cleaning rod, faint cartouche on the right side of the stock next to a blank brass disc, and a brass buttplate with trapdoor compartment.

Rating Definition:

Fine as modified, with 70% of the original blue finish, showing areas of gray and brown patina, bright edge wear and scattered handling marks. A set of 6 plugged holes is visible on the left side of the receiver, purpose unknown. Stock is very good, with mild dents and scratches. Mechanically fine.
