Manufactured in 1914. This pistol was one of 1,537 guns shipped to the U.S. Navy Commanding Officer at Springfield Armory on September 26, 1914. The order was 10 combined Navy orders requisitioned through Springfield Armory for equipping various ships. The left side of the slide is marked with the two line, two block 1897-1913 patent dates and address with the Rampant Colt behind the serrations. The left front of the frame is marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY", the right side of the slide is marked "MODEL OF 1911 U.S. NAVY" and the small "H" inspection mark is on the back of the slide above the firing pin. The left side of the frame is marked with the circled "WGP" inspection mark of Major Walter G. Penfield. The serial number is marked on the right side of the frame behind the slide stop hole. Low profile sights, smooth trigger, checkered magazine release, slide stop, thumb safety and hammer spur. All blue barrel marked with a "P" and "H" on top of the chamber, blue magazine with lanyard ring on the bottom, lanyard ring on the heel of the frame and fitted with checkered walnut grips with diamond pattern around the screws.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The pistol retains 20% original dark blue finish, concentrated in the protected areas with a mottled brown patina and some scattered pin prick type pitting. There is evidence of some cold blue touch up on most of the pistol. The grips are also good with some moderate wear, a few minor dings and overall crisp checkering. The markings are clear. Mechanically fine.
