Manufactured in 1888. This is a Third Model 1873 Rifle with an integral dust cover rail. The rifle has blade front and adjustable elevation rear sights and a full length magazine tube. The top barrel flat is stamped with the two line address/patent dates marking ahead of the rear sight and "38 W.C.F." at the breech. The brass cartridge elevator is marked "38 CAL" and the upper tang has the model marking. Smooth straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate with compartment (no cleaning rod).

Fine. The rifle retains 30% original blue finish with the balance a smooth mottled brown patina. The wood is also fine with a number of minor pressure dents and scratches. Mechanically fine.
