Description:

This is an excellent example of a desirable G41 rifle that was manufactured by the Berlin-Lubecker Company in 1943. Production of these started late 1942/early 1943 and were the predecessor to the G/K43 series of rifles. These early rifles used the bang gas-trap system, that used a muzzle cone to trap exhaust gas to cycle the action. This entire series of rifle was used only for a limited time before the Germans switched to the easier to manufacture G/K43 series of rifles. This rifle has the very early Type 1 receiver, bolt, bolt carrier, gas cone and early action cover and associated internal parts that were mostly all machined and finely blue finished. The receiver side wall is marked "G41 duv 43/Eagle/214" followed by the serial number "4646g". The trigger guard and box magazine are the correct stamped wartime versions with the stamped barrel bands and buttplate. The stock is the correct wartime laminated model that is marked on the right side with a double Eagle 214 Waffenamt proof and a single Eagle 214 Waffenamt proof in the pistol grip area, with the serial number stamped on the underside of the stock. The rifle is equipped with the later production dark red/brown phenolic resin (plastic) handguard as manufactured in 1941/42 time frame. It is complete with an original front sight cover.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 95% plus of the original blue finish overall showing minor edge and high spot wear and on the rear of the action cover. The handguard is excellent and the stock is very fine with visible stock proofs and serial number however it has had a dark brown stain applied overall. The rifle has all matching visible numbers. Mechanically excellent. This example most certainly would nicely fill the vacant slot in your WWII collection!
