This is a well made copy of an extremely rare Mauser Banner Luger pistol that was produced in the mid 1930s under contract for the Turkish Government. What makes the original examples of this type of unusual Luger so rare is that almost none of them have every surfaced or been sold on the commercial market, indicating that the Government still retains them for their use or they have all been destroyed. Making this copy desirable as original examples are non-existant. The unique aspect of this model is that the chamber area is stamped with a large intertwined "TC" crest that stands for "Turkiye Cumhuriyeti" or "The Republic Of Turkey". The right side of the barrel extension is stamped with "Emniyet Isleri Umum Mudurlugu" which loosely translates into "Security Police". These are also uniquely marked on the extractor and safety with "Antes" and "emniyet" respectively, that obviously stands for "loaded and safe". The right side of the barrel extension has a small "Eagle/63" Mauser inspection proof with a single "Crown/U" Commercial proof on the left side of the barrel extension. It is numbered in the military manner with the full serial number on the frame, barrel extension and underside of the barrel, with the last two digits of the serial number on the various other parts. Currently there have only been "3" examples (101, 128, and 628) reported for this subvariation that are outside the country of Turkey. It has the standard checkered walnut grips and if fitted with an early nickel plated, unmarked magazine with an aluminum base.
