This is a fabulous example of a very scarce late Model 1894 Winchester lever action rifle that has several deluxe, special order features. This deluxe rifle as manufactured in late 1898 and has the following desirable special order features: 1) barrel takedown feature 2) half length magazine tube, 3) pistol grip stock 4) deluxe 3X extra fancy, walnut stock and forend 5) Winchester factory checkering on both the stock and forend, 6) special order and very rare, short range "Winchester Express" rear sight with three leaves and a Winchester manufactured, short range, tang mounted folding peep rear sight. The barrel is marked "MANUFACTURED BY THE/WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN CONN. U.S.A." with the left rear side marked, "NICKEL STEEL BARREL/ESPECIALLY FOR SMOKELESS POWDER". The caliber designation ".30 W.C.F." is stamped on the breech end, just in front of the receiver ring. The serial number (146612) is marked on the underside of the receiver. The stock as note has a beautiful, extra fancy burl walnut with an original hard rubber Winchester marked grip cap and buttplate.

Excellent with 97% plus of the original Winchester factory blued finish overall with some minor streaking on the sides of the receiver where the original rust blued finish was applied. The hammer retains 98% of its original color casehardened finish overall and the lever retains 80% of it original color casehardened finish with some fading n the underside of the lever. The stock and forend both have minimal handling marks and both retains 65% of the hand rubbed oil finish having faded somewhat on the side due to its age. The checkering on both components are in excellent condition with nice distinct original checkering overall, showing some minor handling marks on the sides with no alteration.
