Description:

This is an example of a Saddle Ring Winchester Model 1895 carbine with letter from the Cody Firearms Museum. The letter states that Carbine serial number 32685 was chambered in .303 caliber and shipped from the Winchester warehouse on November 12, 1901. The carbine has a 22 inch round barrel, second style receiver, military style forearm with grasping groove, staple mounted saddle ring on the left side of the stock and carboline style butt plate with sliding trap door. The barrel has a Winchester Express front sight with ivory bead and a military style, folding leaf rear sight. The butt trap contains a pull through "U.S. Government Cleaner". The carbine has the Winchester commercial blue finish with case hardened hammer. The stock and forearm are straight grain American walnut. The top of the receiver is roll stamped with the caliber designation "303". The model designation: "WINCHESTER/MODEL 1895-" is roll stamped in two lines on the upper receiver tang. The upper left side of the receiver is roll stamped with the Winchester elongated two line legend with five patent dates. The serial number, "32685" is stamped across the bottom of the receiver behind the trigger.

Rating Definition:

Extremely fine. The carbine retains more than 85% plus of the blue finish. Wear consists of some minor finish loss on the muzzle and barrel band and edge wear on receiver high points. The sides of the magazine have the characteristic functioning wear. The finish on the buttplate is thin and fading to a silver brown patina. The action is excellent. All of the markings are sharp. The stock and forearm are very fine with a few scattered and very minor handling and storage marks. This is a fine example of a hard to find .303 British Winchester Model 1895 Carbine.
