This example was manufactured in 1952. Has a hooded brass beaded blade front sight on a stippled ramp and an elevation adjustable sporting rear sight. The top of the receiver is factory drilled and tapped for scope mounts. The left side of the barrel is marked "MADE IN NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S. OF AMERICA/--WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL--", "-WINCHESTER-/-TRADE MARK-" and "-MODEL 70-257 ROBERTS-". The front receiver ring is matted and both receiver rings are tapped for scope mounting with filler screws installed. The bolt body is polished bright with the matching serial number "207893" on the bottom. The receiver has the "straight" tang and the bolt has the "late" style safety. "'SUPER GRADE-" is stamped on the floor plate. Mounted on a select walnut multi-point checkered pistol grip stock with contrasting forend tip, raised cheekpiece, Winchester grip cap and checkered steel buttplate. Fitted with the correct Super Grade sling swivels.

Excellent. The rifle retains 98% original blue finish with some mild muzzle and edge wear along with some scattered mild scratches. The barrel has a minor ding on the sight boss and limited light spotting. The stock is very fine with some minor scratches and dings. There are some minor nicks in the overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. An attractive and desirable Winchester Model 70 Super Grade Rifle chambered for the .257 Roberts cartridge!
