Description:

Predating the rise of the Nazi party, the knife of the State Forest Service (Staatsforstdienst) served as a badge of honor and rank, with ivory or white celluloid grips reserved for senior officials and Foresters. Measuring 17 inches overall, with an 12 1/2 inch blade bearing the Alcoso logo on the left ricasso, etched hunting scenes on each side, and etched vine work on the spine running up to the distributor mark "G.ECKENHOFF NACHF. BERLIN". The hilt is finished in gold, with a pointer dog sculpted on the clamshell languet, deer hoof accents on the oak leaf decorated guard, and a pair of smooth ivory grips, each adorned with three gilt brass acorn and oak leaf ornaments. Black leather scabbard with gold washed metal fittings.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The excellent blade shows some light runner marks. The attractive untouched original brass components show mild high edge wear, and the ivory grips show excellent grain and color. Minor handling marks are present on the scabbard, with a small amount of play in the throat and tip.
