Green canvas exterior, with the crown constructed from six panels, with the Luftwaffe eagle on the left side, the national tricolor shield on the right, a capped vent on the top and band around the base protecting the chinstrap and liner hardware. The brim is 2-piece construction, with a brown leather trim and matching colored chinstrap with alloy hardware. The interior lining is six panels of orange cloth, with "56" marked in the lining and on the inside of the brown sweatband, and "WPB" on the right side of the band.
