Description:

Manufactured by Remington Arms in late 1943. The rifle has a parkerized barrel and receiver with blued barrel bands, bolt, follower, magazine cut-off, rear sight, trigger guard/floor plate, trigger and buttplate. The stock and forearm are oil-finished black walnut. The receiver is roll stamped "U.S./REMINGTON/ MODEL 1903-A3/4151069". The barrel is stamped "RA/Ordnance Shell & Flame/10-43" behind the rear sight. The left side of the stock below the rear sight is stamped with the "RA/Ordnance Escutcheon/FJA" final inspection mark. An "OG" (Ogden Arsenal) post-war inspection mark is stamped on the left side of the stock. A circled block "P" proof mark is stamped on the underside of the stock behind the trigger guard. Four small Remington sub-inspection marks are stamped on the underside of the stock in front of the floor plate. The bolt and small components are all stamped with the Remington "R". The rifle has a two-groove barrel, Remington front sight cover and commercial russet leather sling. The OG inspection mark is frequently found on new condition M1903-A3 rifles and was applied at the Arsenal to indicate that the rifle had been inspected. New condition rifles were inspected and stamped rather than overhauled.

Rating Definition:

Excellent plus. The rifle is all original and in un-issued factory delivered condition. The metal components have nearly 100% of the original blued or parkerized finish. The only finish wear is on the bolt which has a few light cycling marks but no firing wear on the face. The stock and handguard are nearly new with very sharp final inspection, sub-inspection and proof marks. This is an outstanding example of a WWII Remington Model 1903-A3 rifle in nearly new condition that would be very difficult to improve upon.
