Description:

This is a fine example of a special order Winchester Model 1895 Carbine as manufactured in late 1931. This late carbine has been fitted with a Lyman Model 95 side mounted micrometer sight with the carbine saddle ring and stud swivel being omitted. The side of the receiver is stamped with the one block, two-line factory Winchester factory address and patent dates ending in 1907. The upper receiver tang is marked in three lines: "MODEL 95/----WINCHESTER----/TRADE MARK REG US PAT OFF & FGN.". The carbine has a military style upper handguard and forearm has grasping grooves, with the handguard, forearm and stock all made from straight grain walnut with an oil finish. The top of the receiver is stamped with the Winchester oval "W/P" proof mark and the caliber designation: ".30/ARMY" in two-lines. The serial number; "424533" is stamped on the lower receiver tang. Missing the original bore brush, brass weight and cord are in the butt trap. The carbine has a blue finish with military style folding leaf rear sight with the carbine style steel buttplate with sliding trap.

Rating Definition:

Fine, with 40% of the faded original blue finish remaining overall, with the top and sides of the receiver, box magazine, loading lever and upper tang all browning out from field use. The wood components are all in fine plus condition with a nice original oil finish showing minor handling marks in various areas. The sling is in very good condition being supple with minor age cracking and surface wear. A solid example of a late production Winchester Model 95 carbine.
