A silver presentation plaque is feature on the right side of the buttstock. The plaque reads, "Presented to/John A. Gardner/BY/THE STEELTON CLUB/1910." A 1969 dated letter from a member of the Steelton Club of Steelton, Pennsylvania, states that he and other members of the club purchased and presented this rifle to John Gardner who was their guide for a hunting trip.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The rifle retains 85% original blue finish showing some thinning to a gray with some minor pitting (mostly on the receiver). The forearm and buttplate have a very attractive patina. The stock is fine with some minor pressure dents and scratches and non-factory swivels added. Mechanically fine.
