This is a nice pair of matching flintlock pistols that are most likely of Italian origin. The breech end of the barrel is adorned with gold inlaid engraving and a silver relief bust in an oval panel with a punch dot background. The hammer and lock are lightly engraved and have gold inlaid highlights. The mountings are relief engraved brass with a silver plated relief bust on the left side plate, trigger guard, each side and the butt on the buttplate. The only visible marking is "-D-Z-" on the lower edge of the lock. The metal surfaces appear to have been bright and mounted with a full one-piece walnut stock with teardrop flats, light carving and decorative brass thumb plate. With replacement wooden ramrod.

Very good. The barrel has a mottled gray patina with a small amount of minor pitting. The lock and hammer have a smooth gray patina. The brass has been cleaned some time ago and has a mellow aged patina. Almost all of the partially redone gold inlay remains. Almost all of the silver plating remains and is bright. The stock is good with a large pieced in repair under and slightly forward of the lock. Otherwise there are some minor handling marks. There is a tack absent from the thumb shield. The action is fine.

Almost all of the partially reapplied gold inlay remains. Almost all of the silver plating remains. The stock is good with the forward 4 1/2 inches a pieced in repair with two cracks visible. Overall there are some mild handling marks. The action is fine.
