Description:

This example appears to be a completely homogenous contemporary suit of armor. The helmet skull is composed of two pieces welded together. The bevor latches to the skull with two metal hinges with a slot that fits over a twisting tab. The visor has a lifting post and two slits to see out of. The ventail has a series of holes on each side and does not have a latch. There are floral decorated hinge rivets. The gauntlets have a long pointed cuff with rolled edge and articulating fingers that are attached with pieces of spring steel. The leg defenses have winged knee cops and a decorative scalloped edge on the bottom of the knee lames. The sabatons have a somewhat pointed tip. The breast plate has a central ridge and attaches to the back plate with slots and turning tabs. The gorget also has a slot with a turning tab along with a spring loaded button. Comes with a spear that has a leather wrapped wooden shaft and a forged iron hollow head. The spear measures 70 inches long. There is a plaster horse that the rider sits on. The horse has a chanfron, a crinet and a peytral with decorative fabric along the lower edge. The leather saddle has a plate at the front and back with a simple embossed design. There is a woven caparison covering the horse. There are stirrups and reigns on the horse. The horse is mounted on a large wooden base measuring 90 inches long x 44 inches wide. Rarely do complete suits of armor for man and horse come up for sale. This could be the centerpiece of any arms collection!

Rating Definition:

Good. The armor has a grayish/brown patina overall with traces of a blue finish in the protected areas. There are some areas of moderate surface oxidation and some scattered dings and dents. One hinge rivet has pulled out of the skull and there is a large dent in the visor. The leather straps are fair with several broken. The plaster horse has had the left ear reattached and there are scattered cracks overall.
