Description:

Manufactured in 1915. Pinned blade front sight, the rear sight has been removed and a crude filler block installed in the dovetail, and a receiver mounted peep sight has been installed. The left rear of the barrel is marked with the two- line address/1894 patent date, the two- line nickel steel/smokeless powder marking and "30 W.C.F.". The top of the barrel and receiver at the breech are marked with he Winchester oval proof. The upper tang is marked with the model, maker and trademark information and the serial number is on the bottom of the receiver. Blue finish, casehardened hammer and lever, saddle ring and stud have been removed to accommodate the receiver sight and mounted with a smooth walnut forearm and straight grip stock with a steel carbine buttplate. Each side of the stock is marked "186" and with a Newark, N.J. stamp which has been obliterated.

Rating Definition:

Fair. The barrel and magazine tube have 30% original blue finish and scattered minor pitting overall. The receiver shows 20% original blue finish with a smooth mottled gray and brown patina on the balance. The wood has been sanded and revarnished, and remains very good with some minor nicks, dings and handling marks. The markings are clear. The action is fine.
