Manufactured in 1921 in the very desirable 44-40. Pinned blade front sight, folding ladder rear sight graduated to 200 yards, full length magazine and saddle ring staple with ring. The left side of the barrel has the two line address/patent date marking and "44 W.C.F." at the breech. The top of the barrel and receiver at the breech are marked with the Winchester oval proof, the upper tang has the model, maker and trademark information. Mounted with a smooth walnut forearm and straight grip stock with a carbine buttplate.

Fine. The carbine retains 80% of the faded original blue finish on the barrel and magazine tube, showing some wear and thinning. The receiver has a smooth mottled brown patina with traces of original blue in protected areas and lower tang, and wear from the saddle ring. The hammer retains almost all of the bright original blue finish and the lever has a smooth dark patina. The wood is very good with some scattered minor dents, dings and scratches. The markings are clear. The action is excellent.
