Description:

Included with this grouping is an assortment of paperwork, including material from Masterlisters, the representatives of Gary Ek, son of John Ek, and managers of the sale of the John Ek Estate. Also postcards/envelopes from Karl Furr of Furr Arms, including an envelope and card made out directly to John Ek. 1) Miniature model of a Gatling Gun, 11 1/4 inches long, wood/brass construction. The construction of this piece is attributed to Ek himself. 2) Red wool shirt, size unknown, with Merril Wool Mills tag inside the collar and "John EK/Throwing Knives" embroidered in white on the rear. 3) Wooden plaque, 10 inches wide and 15 3/4 inches tall, carved and painted with two versions of the Ek family crest (a mailed arm holding a spear). A metal mounting bracket is epoxied to the back. 4) Bible, King James Edition, black leather bound with "John Kenneth Ek./March 29, 1925./age 9 years./ Olivet Baptist Church" handwritten on one of the first pages. 5) Billfold, brown leather construction with tooled floral decoration and "J. EK" on the front, with a single 1923-issue U.S. Silver Dollar Certificate. The original sale listing billed this as Ek's "bottom dollar" which he carried for luck the majority of his life. 6) Town Carry Permit made out to John Ek, for the carry of a Smith & Wesson 38 Airweight in Clinton, Connecticut in 1954. He was 41 at the time, and in the "Alien or Citizen" field wrote down "Yes". 7) Two copies of "Your Silent Partner", the Ek manual/catalog, produced circa 1970-1975. One of the manuals was made out to SP5 Darrell (also spelled Darryl) Freeman at Qui Nhon, South Vietnam, with signed price list. Also in the group is a "J. EK" marked metal name plate.

Rating Definition:

1) Fair. Some components absent. 2) Very good. 3) Very good, with mild dents and scuffs. 4) Very good. 5) Billfold is very good, with mild wear. Silver certificate is exactly as creased, torn, and translucent with sweat as you would expect from something that went riding around in a man's pocket for a few decades. 6) Very good. 7) Very good. Name plate has an unknown adhesive stuck on the back.
