Description:

This is a solid example of a desirable Johnson Model 1941 Semi-Automatic Rifle. Developed in the late 1930's by Melvin Johnson. The 1941 competed against the M1 Garand for US military contracts, and found buyers with the Dutch and the USMC. Some Marine Raider and Parachute Battalions used them in the early Makin Island, Guadalcanal and Tulagi Island campaigns in the Pacific. These rifles employ several unique features such as the rotary magazine which allowed reloading at any time, an integral heat shield, and the takedown barrel which allowed them to be stowed in a parachute jump bag. Blade front and adjustable 1,000 meter rear sight. The barrel flange is marked ".30-06/41" and the barrel and barrel extension lug are stamped "0837J". The bolt is stamped "A8235". Has the five-line patent markings and four line maker markings on top of the receiver. Has a five-pointed star over "CRANSTON/ARMS/CO." in an upside-down triangle on the right side below the rear sight. Fitted with a smooth unlaminated two-piece pistol grip walnut stock.

Rating Definition:

Fine, 60% of the faded thin original parkerized finish remains with areas of brown patina, high edge wear and scattered minor scratches. The rear sight and magazine housing retain 30% of the original black finish. The stock is very good as refinished with scattered dings, scratches and some minor chips are absent. Mechanically excellent.
