Wow this is the "Big Daddy" of them all an original Accuracy International Model AW-50 bolt action sniper rifle. These Accuracy International rifles were pioneered by Malcom Cooper, a British engineer and rifle designer in the late 1990s, which utilized a standard aluminum receiver with steel inserts allowing changing of barrel and calibers on one single common receiver. He also developed a unique aluminum rail stock with an outside plastic cover shaped like a rifle stock. This eliminated the need for bedding of actions in the stock and also eliminated the problems with environmental changes on the stock. Mr. Cooper died several years ago and the original company went into receivership. Within the last couple years the company was reopened under new management and have been making newer, more efficient, all steel sniper rifles based on his original design concepts. This example is a new production rifle that incorporates the massive and very rigid steel square block receiver, an aluminum lower receiver/magazine well with the attached folding plastic buttstock section and front forend. The receiver itself actually measures over 13 inches long and has an extended barrel trunion/support on the front end. The top of the receiver has an integral, machined in scope base that features Picatinny rail slots just like the U.S. Military uses. The barrel features five-longitudinal flutes the full length of the barrel to reduce weight and is fitted with the Accuracy International muzzle brake. The bolt is also a massive piece of machining that has six lugs on the front end with longitudinal flutes on the sides of the bolt. The rifle has been fitted with an original an also massive one-piece scope mount which has been fitted with a fabulous "Schmidt & Bender" 3-12x50 mm sniper scope specifically made for this rifle, as the windage and elevation knobs are so marked with the Accuracy International name and "AI" logo on the sides of the turrets. This scope is fitted with the range finding and Mil-Dot reticle, with the elevation knob calibrated/marked from 100-1900 meters. The stock is adjustable for length and height and also has a lower mono-pod under the butt that is adjustable for height. The receiver is correctly marked Accuracy International with the authorized importer "AINA Oakridge TN." marked on top of the receiver. The receiver, bolt and barrel are all matching and all carry the correct, original British Nitro Proofs. The rifle is complete with a folding front mounted bipod, massive original steel storage/transportation case, 4 original AI magazines, sling, and a cleaning kit. This is the same style of long range sniper rifle that was used by British forces in Iraq and Afghanistan.
