Description:

This is a classic American six shot pepperbox pattern revolver that was manufactured c. 1850s. The top side of the bar hammer is marked "THE/ WASHINGTON/ ARMS Co." This was one of the trade names that was used by the New York city firm of W.W. Marston who manufactured a variety of similar firearms in the 1850s. One of the barrel flute ribs is marked "CAST STEEL". The serial number "993" is marked on the grip strap under the left grip panel. The sides of the frame have the floral/scroll work. It is fitted with two-piece walnut grips.

Rating Definition:

Fine. 30% plus of the original blue finish remains with some case colors visible on the sides of the hammer. It has a mixture of gray and brown patina on the balance. The grips are very good with smooth varnish and only minor pressure marks and scattered light scratches. Mechanically functions, but needs some attention due to cylinder not rotating.
