Description:

Very close in style to the 1821 regulation for Infantry Officers, but with a few deviations, which was not uncommon for American edged weapons from the 19th century. Overall length is 37 1/2 inches with a 32 1/2 inch straight single fuller blade fitted with an eight inch false edge, stamped "G" on the right ricasso, and decorated with gold highlighted patriotic and martial engraving set into 17 3/4 inch niter blue panels with feathered ends. The hilt is silver plated construction with no visible hallmarks, a spiral disc rear quillion, floral accented beaded knuckle guard, ribbed bone grip, and a "screaming eagle" style sculpted pommel. With a black leather sheath fitted out with a silver finished brass throat and tip.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The extremely fine blade shows a few light scuffs and handling marks with over 80% of the original niter blue and gold finish and a tiny amount of spotting. The sheath shows a few minor scuffs, and the silver components show a fine, deep patina overall with brighter silver or brass visible on the high points. A few chips are present on the grip with the back strap having bent away slightly.
