This Model 1841 has a lock plate marked "REMINGTON'S/HERKIMER/N.Y." ahead of the hammer and "U.S./1849" vertically behind the hammer. The barrel is turned down at the muzzle (by arsenal) and does not have a bayonet lug and is marked "US/JCB/P" near the breech and "STEEL SK" on the lower flat. It is fitted with a straight wrist walnut stock with brass furniture including a patch box and "US" marked buttplate. Two faint cartouches are visible on the left flat and it includes a tulip head ramrod.
