Description:

Measuring 9 1/2 inches overall following the profile of a Finnish "puukko style knife. The blade is 4 7/8 inches long with a short false edge on the drop point blade and a short ricasso. Some parts of the blade appear to be magnetized. The grip is constructed from a solid piece of antique ivory with each side decorated with a dog sejant and a unicorn passant and a German silver ferrule and pommel cap; the latter is inscribed "M.B.P. FROM M.J.G./July 1864". With a brown leather sheath, with "M.B.P." stamped and black-filled on the front. No identification for the parties in the inscription is available though the design of the animals on the grip suggest heraldic markings.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The blade has been lightly cleaned with a small amount of pitting and some light handling marks overall. The hilt is good with some age cracks on either side of the grip at the ferrule and some mild dents on the pommel. The sheath is good with a belt loop removed from the rear, a geometric pattern cut into the body and some mild scuffs and cracks.
