Description:

Measuring 16 7/8 inches overall, no makers marks are present, though the overall style suggests a Southwestern/Mexican influence. The thick blade (12 1/2 inch) features a 4 3/4 inch back clip and a flat grind and measures 3/8 inch thick at the base of the spine with a slight taper and 1 7/8 inches across the widest point. The hilt fittings are steel with a pair of cone-shaped quillions at the ends of the oval guard, a 10-sided hardwood grip and a flat octagonal pommel.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The blade shows a mixed brown and gray patina with mild sharpening marks along the edge, patches of shallow pitting and a few light nicks and handling marks. A dark brown patina has formed on the fittings and some high point wear and dents are visible on the grip. A well made, very intimidating/vicious large Bowie knife that would greatly enhance any Old West collection!
