Description:

Measuring 15 1/4 inches in overall length, the 10 1/4 inch blade and full-length tang are constructed from a single piece of steel with 3/8 inch thickness at the pommel and a subtle distal taper up until the 4 1/2 inch unsharpened clip. The cutting edge terminates sharply just above the grip causing the blade itself to serve as a finger guard similar to some South American designs. The grips are constructed from two pieces of fine black horn sandwiching the tang, secured with brass rivets and fitted with brass plates in the bolster area and at the pommel. Notes from the consignor suggest the knife was a World War II-era Marine Raider/Army Ranger weapon; while not conforming to any standard pattern, privately owned and publicly donated knives were commonly used items, especially in the early years of American participation.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The steel shows a gray patina overall with some brown spotting, shallow pitting, minor dings on the blade near the tip and a number of dents on the false edge. The grips are very good with a few mild scratches.
