Description:

Both daggers (these style sometimes called dirks) are fitted with a sculpted and gold washed guard, a gold washed ferrule, a two-piece antique ivory grip with octagonal grip sections and a ball pommel and a gilt brass sheath with two suspension rings. 1) Stiletto 12 3/4 inches overall with a 9 inch diamond cross-section blade and a leafy pattern guard with beaded accents. 2) Dagger 9 3/8 inches overall, with a 6 3/4 inch double edged single fuller blade which is decorated with gold accented etching over 3/4 of its length. The guard is decorated with a Germanic oak leaf and acorn pattern.

Rating Definition:

1) Good. The blade has been machine polished/reshaped with some etching of the metal towards the tip and traces of a gold washed pattern near the guard. The guard and ferrule retain over half of the gold wash and the sheath shows a well aged brass patina overall with gold in the protected areas and a number of dents and dings overall. The grip is good with age cracking, attractive color and fine grain. 2) Good. The blade shows a mixed gray and brown patina with scattered pitting. Over 80% of the gold wash remains on the guard and ferrule, and the guard retains about 30% with a well aged patina on the exposed brass. The grip is good with a partially filled-in age crack running the length of the body, a few other small cracks and nice color and grain overall.
