Late production Colt Model 1851 Navy revolver manufactured in 1866. The revolver has a blued iron trigger guard and back strap with "L" (London) suffix stamped above or below the serial number on the barrel lug, frame, trigger guard and back strap. The revolver has the late Fourth Model features which include, capping channel in the recoil shield, large rounded trigger guard, and thick loading lever latch. The barrel has a brass cone front sight and the hammer has bordered knurling on the spur. The barrel, cylinder, trigger guard and back strap have the Colt commercial blue finish. The loading lever, frame and hammer are casehardened with vivid case colors. The one-piece walnut grip has a high polish, "piano" finish. The cylinder is roll-engraved with the Texas Navy battle scene and "COLT'S PATENT No.". "ENGAGED 16 MAY 1843." is roll-stamped on the front edge of the cylinder. "COLTS/PATENT" is stamped in two lines on the left front of the frame. The top of the barrel is roll-stamped "-ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA-". "36 CAL " is stamped on the left shoulder of the trigger guard. The full serial number, "185958" is stamped on the bottom of the barrel lug, frame, trigger guard and back strap. The partial serial number "5958" is stamped on the cylinder and "958" is stamped on the loading lever. All of the visible serial numbers match.

Excellent. The revolver is all original, appears to be un-fired, and retains nearly 97% plus of the blue and casehardened finish. There are scuff marks and light scratches on the top and sides of the barrel. The cylinder has nearly all of the blue finish and retains all of the Texas Navy scene. The safety pins are all intact and the percussion nipples have no flash pitting. The trigger guard and back strap have nearly all of the blue finish with some very minor handling marks. Nearly all of the vivid case colors are present on the loading lever, frame and hammer. The walnut grip is in excellent overall condition; about 95% of the piano finish varnish is present; wear is limited to some shallow handling marks.
