Examples of Tranter's patent firearms have been seen with various markings including retailer marks. This example is marked "COGSWELL & HARRISON STRAND. LONDON." on the barrel rib, "W. TRANTER'S PATENT/ 50923" on the left side of the frame, and "TRANTER'S PATENT" on the ejector arm. There are various small British proofs throughout and "380" on the upper left barrel flat. The cylinder, barrel, loading gate, and rear of the frame are all marked "22" likely indicating an assembly number. It is equipped with round blade front and frame notch rear sights, and a checkered walnut grip with round buttcap.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The revolver retains 70% plus of the original blue finish on the frame, barrel, and many small parts with a gray patina on the remained including the hammer, trigger, and cylinder along with some light scratches. The grips are excellent with some faint scratches and otherwise slick varnish and sharp checkering. Mechanically excellent with clear markings.
