According to the included factory letter, this pistol was one of two Woodsman Pistols shipped to the Lee Hardware Company of Salina, Kansas on May 23, 1941. Fitted with an elevation adjustable bead front and windage adjustable "U" notch rear sights, with the two-line address and patent markings on top of the barrel, "THE WOODSMAN" on the left side of the frame, and the caliber markings and Rampant Colt on the slide. Fitted with a serrated trigger and back strap, checkered safety, butt-mounted magazine catch and checkered grips. With a Colt black box properly labeled and hand-numbered to the gun, two manuals, a "Special Instruction" sheet and two magazines; one extra for this pistol, and one for a later-model Colt 22.
