Inspired by the work of J.H. Fitzgerald, an early 20th century Colt gunsmith, and his experimental modifications to the Colt double action revolver. Fitzgerald was known for making modifications to allow for better ease of draw and faster trigger pull. He was known to have built custom one-of-a-kind guns for Charles Lindbergh and Col. Rex Applegate, an original member of the O.S.S. during WWII. This particular pistol built by Colt Custom Shop gunsmith John Pelletier carries many of the features used by Fitzgerald, including a bobbed hammer, shortened grip frame, rounded butt, shortened 2 1/2 inch barrel, partially cut away trigger guard on the right side and special combat grips. Built at the request of R.L. Wilson, author and Colt Historical Consultant, and pictured in his book "The Book of Colt Firearms" page 403 item "F".

Excellent overall with 99% original finish and only the smallest of handling marks on metal surfaces. Grips are excellent, with crisp well defined checkering. Mechanically excellent.
