Description:

This revolver was manufactured in 1855. The top barrel flat is marked "{ADDRESS SAML COLT/NEW YORK CITY}", and the left side of the frame is marked "COLTS/PATENT". The cylinder has the stagecoach hold up scene and "COLTS PATENT/NO. 106420". The complete matching serial number is also marked on the barrel, frame, trigger guard, and back strap while the partial number is on the loading lever wedge, and cylinder pin. It has the standard brass post front and hammer notch rear sights, blue barrel and cylinder, silver plated trigger guard and back strap, and casehardened remaining parts. The smooth one piece varnished walnut grip has a glossy varnish. It comes in a wooden case with velvet lining divided into five compartments. The case also contains an unmarked brass powder flask and bullet mold, key, and a cap tin with some percussion caps and two balls.

Rating Definition:

Fair. The revolver has some patches of silver plating remaining on the trigger guard and back straps which otherwise display an aged patina. The remaining components have some traces of finish, but primarily display a mixture of brown and gray patinas with some light pitting. The revarnished grip is very good with some minor dings and light scratches and what appears to be a hand marked "D" on the butt. Mechanically fine with clear markings. The relined case is in fair shape with some scratches and some slightly loose pieces. The interior is well worn. The flask and mold are very good while the tin is fair.
