Manufactured circa early 1860s, this small pocket pistol has an octagon barrel with solid rib marked "T.J. STAFFORD, NEW HAVEN, CT". It has a German silver blade front and notch rear sights, "PATENTED/MARCH 19, 1860" on the butt, punch dot backed scroll engraving on the sides of the breech, frame and along the back strap and smooth flared butt grips. The serial number "1436" is marked on the grip strap and is penciled on the underside of the grips. It has an "in the white" barrel and gilded frame.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. 85% plus of the original gold finish remains with some areas of exposed brass with an aged patina. The barrel has traces of silver with some spotting and mostly brown patina forming. Case colors remain on the hammer. The grips are very good with some minor pressure marks and light scratches. Mechanically fine with legible markings and crisp engraving.
