Developed in the 1850's in Paris, France, this example of the Jarre Harmonica pistol is loaded via a 10-round horizontal block which is pre-loaded with pinfire cartridges and automatically advances between chambers when the pistol is cocked. The action is double action only. This arrangement represented a significant increase in on-hand firepower for the era, even when compared to other repeating pinfire arms of the same time period. It has no sights, ejector rod threaded into the rear strap, matching numbers on the hammer and barrel group, "20" on the underside of the pin block, a "3" on the frame behind the barrel group, the Jarre & Company logo on the upper right of the barrel assembly, smooth hammer and trigger, and smooth walnut grips with high polish finish.

Very fine. The pistol retains 60% plus of the original blue finish with a brown patina on the balance. There grips are very good with glossy "piano" varnish, a few small nicks and scratches, and a chip out of the right panel. Mechanically excellent with crisp markings.
