Two Artillery-Style Swords

Both swords have curved single fuller blades, gilt brass hilts and wire wrapped rayskin grips. 1) Unmarked sword, 37 3/4 inches overall, with a 32 1/4 inch blade, floral designs on the hilt and a nickel and gilt brass scabbard. Overall, the sword appears to combine a Model 1840 hilt with a Model 1872 blade. 2) 1872 pattern sword, 37 inches overall, with a 23 inch patriotically-etched blade, E.A. Armstrong (Chicago, IL) merchant mark on the left ricasso, and a Weyersberg helm on the right. With a gilt brass fitted polished steel sheath.

Condition1) Fine with some mild spotting on the blade, shallow pitting at the ricasso, over 85% of the original gilt finish, well aged visible brass and some flaking and bubbling of the nickel. 2) Very good with some light spotting on the blade, a bend in the guard, and mild handling marks overall. The scabbard has been heavily polished and has scattered pitting.
