This is an early production Inland M1 carbine that was subsequently rebuilt during Korea or Vietnam, with a fixed front blade sight marked with an "R". The rear of the early flat bolt receiver is marked "INLAND DIV" over the serial number, and the barrel is marked "INLAND MFG. DIV. GENERAL MOTORS 4-43". It has a mix of late and early features, type three barrel band marked "MMO" with bayonet lug, late toggle style safety, stamped adjustable rear sight marked "SA", folding M1A type paratrooper stock and leather cheekpiece and oiler loop. The wood is marked "OG" on the left side, just rear of the trigger. Magazine is absent.
