Manufactured in 1956 (the first year of production) with the one-line address on top of the barrel, "COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY .45" on the left side of the barrel, and the left side of the frame marked with the two-line, three-date patent information followed by the Rampant Colt. The matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the frame and the left side of the grip straps under the grip with the partial serial number on the front of the cylinder. The matching assembly number is on the back of the frame and on the loading gate. It has the standard blade front and frame notch rear sights. It has been refinished and custom engraved by J.R. French and now features a gunmetal gray matte nickel finish accented by gold bands at the muzzle breech, and rear of the cylinder. There is fine scroll work engraving on a textured background covering nearly all of the frame and back strap, most of the barrel and cylinder, and some geometric patterns on the butt and trigger guard bow. The top of the back strap has a wolf's head. It is fitted with mostly smooth horn grips with some naturally occurring rough textured areas near the junction with the frame and the bottoms. It includes a "Certification of Hand Engraving" signed J.R. French of Irving, Texas.

Very good as engraved and refinished. The revolver retains much of the "coin" nickel and gold inlaid banded with some blue finish showing at the front of the butt, a faint drag line on the cylinder, some light scratches, and a few slight blemishes. The grips are excellent. All markings remain clear and the engraving is sharp. Mechanically excellent.
