Manufactured in 1920. The left side of the barrel ahead of the rear sight is marked "MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO./ NEW HAVEN. CONN. U.S.A. PAT. OCT. 14, 1884. JAN. 20 1885." with "-NICKEL STEEL BARREL-/ESPECIALLY FOR SMOKELESS POWDER" and "33 W.C.F." on the left side of the barrel at the breech. The Winchester proofmarks are on the barrel and the receiver at the breech. The two-line "1884" and "1885" patent marking is marked directly behind the trigger and the serial number marked behind the lever. The upper tang is marked "MODEL 86/-WINCHESTER-/TRADE MARK REG. IN U.S. PAT. OFF.". Lyman beaded blade front and adjustable flat notch rear sights. Special order half magazine with takedown lever, blue finish and mounted with a smooth walnut forearm with steel forend cap and straight grip buttstock with a checkered hard rubber shotgun buttplate. Includes a Eubanks Pioneer leather sling.

Very good. The barrel assembly retains 40% of the original blue finish with scattered scratches overall and a small area of grey patina at the breech. The receiver and other metal components retain traces of the original blue finish with a strong smooth gray patina. The markings are clear. The wood is good as lightly sanded and reoiled with scattered scratches and dings and repair crack with studs behind the lower tang. The sling is good.
