Description:

The first semi-automatic pistol brought to market by Webley, the design of the Model 1905 would serve as the baseline for a long-produced line of pocket sized auto pistols. A number of features were present on the early 1905s that were eliminated during the production run, including a diagonal machined flat on the right side of the slide where the extractor is mounted and a hammer mounted safety. Fixed blade and notch sights, with an engraved Webley "winged bullet" and three-line address and caliber markings on the left side of the slide, Birmingham proofmarks, "16" on the frame and trigger, a knurled hammer and safety lever and checkered grips. With an unmarked brown leather shoulder holster.

Rating Definition:

Very good as period refinished, with about half of the retailer applied blue finish, showing areas of gray and brown patina, bright edge wear and scattered handling marks. A number of small patches of pitting are present, chiefly on the barrel and slide. Grips are very good reproductions, with mild scuffing. The holster is fair and appears to have been hand-made from a belt holster. Mechanically fine. Writer cannot recall ever having offered another one of these at auction!
