Description:

This is an example of a scarce Walther PP semi-automatic pistol with the highly desirable "R.J." engraved front grip strap marking. In the excellent book; "Walther Models PP and PPK" Vol I by Rankin, (on page 117) he identifies that these pistols were probably issued to the "Reich Ministry of the Interior" which was an organization that ordered weapons and supplies for the NSDAP, which was an early Nazi organization. The left side of the slide is marked with the "Walther" inside a banner followed by the two-line markings of: "Waffenfabrik Walther, Zella Mehlis (Thur) over Walther's Patent 7.65m/m, MOD PP". The right side of the pistol has the pre-war Nazi "Eagle N" proof on the chamber area, the slide and muzzle end of the barrel. The right side of the frame is marked with the "P" suffix serial number with the matching "078" etched/inscribed inside the slide. It has early 60 degree safety with the fixed sights and is fitted with black plastic grip marked with a "Walther Banner" on each side. It is complete with one Walther banner marked magazine with the flat base.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 85% plus of the blue finish overall with edge and high spot wear overall with thinning on the grip straps. The grips are also in very fine condition with nice distinct checkering and markings. A very rare early Nazi issue Walther "R.J." marked Model PP pistol.
